Melissa Boone joined the Haymarket Media Inc. Board of Directors in August 2020.
Ms. Boone serves the Haymarket Board in a nonexecutive, advisory capacity. In addition to participating in regular deliberations of the U.S. Board, she meets monthly with Haymarket Human Resources directors in the U.S. and the United Kingdom to advise them on the company’s People Agenda.
She is an accomplished human resources executive and transformational leader, bringing over two decades of strategic expertise in human capital management and organizational leadership across a broad range of industries. As the Chief People Officer at Am Law 100 firm Steptoe LLP, Melissa is a key member of the firm’s C-suite, driving its people-centric strategy and fostering a culture of excellence. In her role at Steptoe, Melissa oversees all aspects of the firm’s global people strategy. She is passionate about aligning human capital initiatives with organizational goals, ensuring that people remain at the center of Steptoe’s mission to deliver exceptional client service.
Before joining Steptoe, Melissa held executive roles across both public and private sectors, including Vice President of Talent at DLH Holdings Corporation and Vice President of Human Resources at Haymarket Media Inc., where she was recognized for driving transformative change and organizational efficiency. She has been honored by RecognizeDC as one of the top Human Resources and Talent professionals in the Washington, DC, area. Her leadership experience spans industries such as public health, media, biotechnology, professional services, and information technology, giving her a unique lens for navigating complex and fast-moving organizations.
Melissa holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Maryland School of Law, a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. She is admitted to the Maryland Bar and holds professional certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Society of Human Resource Management-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
