To mark this year’s Pride Month, PRWeek is honouring 30 leading PR professionals who identify as LGBTQ+ on its third Pride in PR list
Launched in 2021, Pride in PR features 30 inspirational LGBTQ+ communications professionals, highlighting one profile per day through the month of June, all of which can be viewed here.
The achievements of these PR pros act as an inspiration for young comms professionals entering the industry to aspire to emulate.
Pride in PR celebrates the impact LGBTQ+ individuals have had on the PR industry in the US and around the world, which is especially important in today’s febrile world where attacks on LGBTQ+ rights are becoming commonplace.
The Pride in PR 2023 list was compiled by the PRWeek editorial team in consultation with the PR community. Each honoree answered a Q&A that sits on the Pride in PR page of the PRWeek website.
This year’s content highlights the challenges and responsibilities for LGBTQ+ communicators working in today’s polarized social and political environment, as well as the important role colleagues can play as allies beyond Pride Month.
“Celebrating Pride in PR is more important than ever, not just during June but all year round,” said Steve Barrett, VP, editorial director of PRWeek. “This year’s class of honorees is an important milestone in celebrating the contribution of LGBTQ+ communications professionals to the PR industry.”
The 2023 list includes individuals from important advocacy groups including the National LGBTQ Task Force, Human Rights Campaign, NYC Pride and PFLAG National.
If you have any comments or suggestions about PRWeek’s Pride in PR list, or would like to nominate yourself or someone else in the industry for any future lists, please contact the team here.
