Recognising employees across five categories to celebrate their outstanding contributions over the last 12 months
On Wednesday 19 June, Haymarket’s global chief executive, Kevin Costello, announced the winners of ‘The People’ Awards 2024 – the company’s global internal awards celebrating Haymarket’s talented individuals.
Following strong engagement and positive feedback, this marks the second year Haymarket has held its internal awards in two parts to give its employees greater due recognition: hosting ‘The People’ in June and ‘The Work’ in December. The awards’ five categories reflect Haymarket’s commitment to its Impact agenda, culture, values, and remarkable expertise.
Ryan Li, Junior Reporter for FinanceAsia and CorporateTreasurer editorial, won the award for Emerging Talent. The judging panel were looking for a standout performer who consistently exceeds expectations with creativity and innovation, achieves impressive results, continuously develops their skills, and actively drives positive change within the workplace. Ryan demonstrated exceptional skills in relationship building, content production, editorial responsibilities, and establishing strong market connections.
Speaking on his win, Ryan said: “Being awarded the global Emerging Talent of the year is the greatest acknowledgement of my first year at Haymarket Asia, as well as first year at work. I’m extremely lucky to have received support and care from amazing editors and colleagues in our Asia office throughout the journey. Working as a reporter for two finance brands has been thrilling and eye-opening, both through research on the industry and extensive communications internally and externally; and seeing my own pieces making an impact is especially fulfilling.”
Waseem Qureshi, VP Enterprise Architect, Web Development in the US, was awarded Haymarket’s Colleague of the Year. The judges sought someone who actively uses their voice to influence and support our purpose of shaping a better future with remarkable content, and Waseem massively exemplifies these qualities. Waseem is highly valued by his colleagues, and his mentorship, coaching, and hands-on approach have significantly enhanced the team’s performance, fostering a culture of innovation and growth.
Waseem said: “With so many other quality entries, it means a lot to be recognised. Being surrounded by talented colleagues has allowed me the freedom to play a more centralised role which has translated to broader collaboration across more teams resulting in larger, high impact projects such as evolving our Data Warehouse stack and Marketing Technology infrastructure.
“In the US, Haymarket’s approach to technology has always encouraged people to take responsibility and innovate, enabling growth and development. This has resonated with me and continues to be the driving force behind my contribution. I’m looking forward to continuing to refine and grow our capabilities over the next fiscal and beyond.”
Leader of the Year was awarded to Lubtcho Dimitrov, Marketing Director in the Haymarket Business Media (HBM) division. The judges said that his unwavering support and mentorship have driven the team’s remarkable growth and ambitious achievements, earning him immense respect and admiration. Lubtcho is a multi-talented leader who fosters a respectful, supportive, and positive work environment. He leads by example, promoting sustainable, ethical, and inclusive practices.
Lubtcho added: “I am very proud and honoured to have been named Leader of the Year by Haymarket Media Group. This achievement is not just a personal milestone but a testament to the relentless efforts and hard work of every member of the Paid Content Marketing team. Your dedication and constant pursuit of excellence on a daily basis have been instrumental in this success. Thank you all for your exceptional contributions and for making this journey so rewarding.”
Lucinda Rouse, Senior Multimedia Reporter for Third Sector was awarded Star Performer, recognising an exceptional performer who consistently exceeds expectations, improves outcomes for audiences and clients, and demonstrates creativity and innovation in their work. Lucinda played a pivotal role in the success of the Third Sector podcast, enhancing its content, introducing creative features, and launching Haymarket’s first audio documentary series. .
Lucinda said: ““It’s been really exciting to play a leading role in developing Third Sector’s podcast offering, and to have been given the creative space to do so.
“Launching Haymarket’s first major audio documentary series, The End of Charity, has been a real career highlight for me. Long-form audio is a brilliant and hugely rewarding form of journalism and I’m grateful for the company’s willingness to invest in it.”
Finally, the award for Team of the Year went to the Lead Generation team in Haymarket India. This award recognises a team that has made an exceptional contribution to the business by improving outcomes for clients and colleagues while exemplifying the power of teamwork and innovative thinking. The judges were impressed by their collaborative and data-driven approach, significantly boosting the company’s growth.
Speaking on their win, Nasir Mulla, Head of Information Technology for Haymarket India said: “I’m thrilled that our Lead Generation team has been recognised with this award. We focused on understanding our target product deeply, utilising data-driven insights to tailor our approach effectively. Our team’s ability to adapt quickly to changing market dynamics and our commitment to continuous improvement were also crucial factors.
“Moreover, the collaborative spirit within our team allowed us to leverage each member’s strengths, leading to more creative and effective solutions. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and excited about the future possibilities.”
